The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) published a Federal Register notice with proposed 2012 Fair Market Rents (FMR) for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and Moderate Rehabilitation Single Room Occupancy programs.

The Fair Market Rents (FMR) are used to determine the following:

• payment standards for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program;

• renewal rents for expiring project-based Section 8 contracts;

• rents for housing assistance payment;

• contracts in the Moderate Rehabilitation Single Room Occupancy program; and

• rent ceilings in the HOME program.

Comments on the proposed Fair Market Rents (FMR) are due by September 19, 2011.
