October 7, 2011by George Danneman

The State of Delaware through the Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) is requesting public review and comment of the draft amendments to the Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP 2) Action Plan.

Authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Neighborhood Stabilization 2 Program (NSP2) provides assistance to state and local governments on a competitive basis to stabilize foreclosed properties.  The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provided the Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) $10,007,109 in Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP2) funds.

The draft amendments are described as follows:

The proposed amendment requests the addition of two Census tracts in Sussex County Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP 2) service area to reflect current foreclosure pattern– Census tracts 507.02 and 501.02 be added to the current service area, which includes Census tracts 509, 510.01 and 511.  This amendment will provide more choices for buyers wishing to use Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP2) to purchase foreclosed homes.

Written public comments must be submitted by 4:00 pm on October 12, 2011, to Kimberly Brockenbrough, Community Development Section, Delaware State Housing Authority, 18 The Green, Dover, DE 19901.
